There's no "bragging" in the workplace. Worship and Claim your wins.

Coming from a Soninké and Muslim culture, this is one of the hardest truths I had to deal with growing up and a bit till today.

Like many people coming a conservative culture, all our life we’ve been told to keep it low, to not talk too much about our successes. 

At that point you might be wondering why though? Alright, It’s because we have been told that when you speak, the blessings are gone. Or worse, only empty barrels make noises.

That's why we run away when our contributions are recognized. We become nervous when we're on the spotlight. Others may see this as a lack of confidence or humility. It’s not. We're just not used to it.

As a result of that, some of our colleagues (those I called the “griots”) proudly take credit for our sleepless nights and efforts.

This has to change; let's be proud of our successes. Let's claim & worship our wins.
