I finally found my Purpose

From the age of 7 till recently, I would always ask my Dad: Papa what is the meaning of life? Why are we here on earth? To do what Allah created us to do. - he'd answer.

And I will follow up, that "what Allah created us to do" what is it? How can I find it? You'll know it when you find it. - He’d answer. I think I've asked him this question over a hundred times, and always got the same answer.

Looking back, my Dad was right. Our purpose, nobody can tell us what it is. But one thing is certain, the day you’ll find it, you’ll know it. Every action, every decision will suddenly make sense. You will feel an overflow of joy - like never before.

Some people name it: Passion. Fair enough. I also thought that for the last 18 years. However, as long as I got older, my passions kept changing. I was passionate about selling when I was 8. Poetry writing when I was 12. Basketball when I was 14. Public Speaking when I was 16. Entrepreneurship when I was 18. Therefore, as society teaches us and coupled with my natural competitive drive, I would obsessively decide to turn my passion into a profession and be the best at it. As you might guess throughout the last two decades I had as many career goals as passions.

Fun fact: Every year I would come to my Dad and be like : Dad, I found it. XYZ makes me so happy. I never feel like working and plus I’m making money out of it.  Each time, with a smile he'll reply, "Al hamdoulilah, may Allah make it easy."

In 2023, I found my true purpose and since then everything is different. I'm happier. More balanced. More grounded.

Here is the point:

Our purpose is not a passion.

Our purpose is not a career.

Our purpose is not a status.

Our purpose is not to be this or that.

Our purpose is bigger than all of that.
